A gift for one of my uncles.

I was commissioned to paint a piece featuring his new fountain set up he'd built in his back yard.
I circled around the fountain taking reference pictures while thinking of composition and eye movement. I tried to compose an image that highlighted the small statue as if it were suggesting a journey across the rocks & waterfalls. While painting, I had to decide what details to abstract and which textures to simplify with impressionistic mark-making.
