Acrylic painted on gessoed wooden skateboard.
I wanted to paint something that played with scale in a fun way and also felt larger than life. Subconsciously, I think I also wanted to make something more true to myself and a combination of my own spiritual beliefs. The result was this more mature piece, celebrating goddess-like femininity & beauty. The universe, or Mother Nature herself personified as a goddess, relaxing in a cosmic bath of clouds & stars. Both sun and moon featured, sharing their support of the goddess as she plays with a tiny, human-sized, rubber ducky. I added nods to Egyptian iconography with hands of Ra radiating from sun, and lunar mythology with waves of overflow space water draining down the bottom of the board. I had fun with suggesting slight bathroom tiles in the background, and cleverly including my signature as the labeling on the sink drain.
